The SVG Static Var Generator serves to enhance power quality comprehensively on the transformer side of power distribution systems. It incorporates various functions, including power compensation, harmonic management, and regulation of three-phase imbalance. In comparison to conventional capacitor compensation schemes, the SVG not only delivers accurate, bidirectional, and rapid reactive power compensation but also effectively mitigates the risk of harmonics associated with capacitive systems. Furthermore, it addresses both harmonic and reactive power issues simultaneously, thereby ensuring the stability and reliability of the power system. Equipped with a high-quality power factor controller (SGC), the device further enhances its performance.

    Working Principle of SVG (Static VAR Generator)

    The SVG functions as a power electronic device that is essential for the rapid compensation and adjustment of reactive power, thereby ensuring the stability of the grid voltage. It consists of three primary functional modules: the detection module, the control computation module, and the compensation output module.In terms of its operational principle, the system’s current information is detected using external current transformers (CT). The control core analyzes this current data, which includes parameters such as power factor (PF), apparent power (S), and reactive power (Q). Following this analysis, the controller produces a compensation drive signal. This signal is then utilized by the inverter circuit, which is composed of power electronic inverters, to generate the necessary compensation current.
